Get Your Houses in Order
I'm not going to get into too many specifics about who did what where and when this week on the world stage. Things have gotten much bigger and gone much further than probably any of us ever imagined we'd see in our lifetimes.
Most of my week was spent in the company of family, as we welcomed the newest member, my great-nephew. The birth of a child is a cause for great celebration. It made me forget about the world for a little while this week and instead concentrate on the wonders of God and His creation.
But the world is still here, waiting for me to return my attention to it, just as it does us all at some point. Forgetting about it for a while made me realize how easy it is to turn a blind eye to the signs we're seeing all around us. And the "days of Noah" has been on my mind a lot lately.
Matthew 24
37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
There's a lot of disagreement over whether this refers to the Second Coming or the Rapture. The next verses seem to me to point to the Rapture.
40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
If it were the Second Coming, no one would be taken or left. At the Second Coming the wicked are slain, and the believing remnant move into the Millennium. There seems to be a lot of confusion over the matter, and we know who the father of confusion is. It seems like Satan is trying to stir up as much doubt and confusion as he can in these last days. No one is watching for Christ's return anymore.
43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
2 Peter 3
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
The thief in the night symbolism is thus repeated, and the Flood referred to again. How could this be if the Tribulation has already started?
The 10 virgins of Matthew 25: five wise ones who meet their bridegroom, five foolish ones who are left.
We have been given warning after warning. God always fulfills His promises. He has sent us so many signs, and yet many still refuse to see.
People are living just as it describes, in the days of Noah, oblivious to the danger ahead, even mocking and laughing at those who are trying to warn them.
The world is preparing for massive conflict everywhere. Russia claims it is pulling out of Georgia, but does anybody really buy that? Russia is also cozying up to America's nearest and dearest enemies, Venezuela and Cuba. From these nations, Russia or Iran could easily orchestrate an EMP attack to send us back to the Stone Age. The rumors of a terror attack within the US have also been on the increase. The war in Afghanistan gets worse and worse all the time, and Pakistan is an unstable element in its midst.
Syrian President Bashar Assad visited Moscow, reportedly to encourage Russia to abandon its ties to NATO. The US government wants Israel to discontinue its peace talks with Syria, but still wants a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians before the year's ends. And Jordan is talking to Hamas (for the first time in two years) and also to Russia. Lebanon's Prime Minister Fouad Siniora visited Iraq, and said it should be brought back into the Arab fold. And the Iraqi government is trying to get the US out.
All of Israel's enemies are conspiring around them. It looks like several prophetic fulfillments are close at hand.
Psalm 83 -- Israel's longtime enemies attack
Isaiah 17 -- the destruction of Damascus
Ezekiel 38 & 39 -- The Gog/Magog War
How they will play out remains to be seen, but so much is pointing to SOON!
If the blood moons/solar eclipses are a sign of the Tribulation beginning this fall, we may be going Home soon. Condi Rice is in Jerusalem pushing the Annapolis roadmap again. The idea of an agreement by the end of September adds an interesting dimension to the mix. We know the Antichrist will confirm an agreement to usher in the Trib. (Daniel 9:27)
Now, this is just a warning to WATCH, which we should always be doing anyway. There is no way for us to be certain if things will happen this way or not. But to be ready and watching at all times is our best hope. Watching for our blessed hope!
Jeremiah 17:7
Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
Titus 2:13
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Matthew 24:33
So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
Revelation 22
20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
